Presentado por primera vez en 1976, el StingRay ha sido venerado como uno de los bajos más icónicos de la historia. Fue el primer bajo de cuatro cuerdas de producción con ecualización activa integrada. El StingRay actual, buque insignia de la línea Music Man, conserva las mismas características distintivas que tenía hace unos cuarenta años, incluyendo una sólida construcción para circular, el icónico golpeador ovalado, la configuración de llave de afinación 3+1 y la popular humbucker Music Man.
